This Is the recipe I used to frost MICHELLE'S FAVORITE CHOCOLATE MAYONNAISE CAKE. My husband requested that I make the cake but use a Peanut Butter Frosting.

I basically used my Cream Cheese Frosting recipe but omitted the Cream Cheese to allow the flavors from the Peanut Butter to come through. He truly loved the cake. I have made this frosting for cup Cakes and other cakes before but never for the Mayonnaise Cake. Omitting the cream cheese allows the peanut butter flavor to become more prominent. It really does compliment the chocolate flavors of the cake. A quick, simple & easy recipe.

Enough to frost a 2-3 layer cake, depending on the amount of frosting used
15 Min
No-Cook or Other

  • 1 lb
    powderd sugar or confectioners sugar
  • 1 c
creamy or chunky peanut butter(i used creamypeter pan)
  • 1 stick
    butter softened (1/2 cup)
  • 2 tsp
vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • 1 tsp
    coffee extract
  • 4-6 Tbsp
milk (i used evaporated milk) or more to reach desired spreading consistency
  • 10-12
pieces of candy as desired, optional i used kit kat & reese's peanut butter cups

  1. These are the main ingredients to make the frosting.
  2. Add the softened butter and peanut butter to a medium size bowl and beat together until creamy and smooth.
  3. Then add in the vanilla, coffee extract, & powdered sugar. Using slow speed at first slowly lend the powdered sugar into the creamy mixture.
  4. Add the milk a tablespoon or 2 at a time until it reaches the desired consistency you need to frost the cake or cup Cakes.
  5. When desired consistency is reached frost cake or cup cakes with an off set spatula as desired. Garnish top with assorted candies or sprinkles if desired.
  6. Cut and enjoy. I made my daughter Michelle's Favorite Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake with this delicious frosting, but it is also great on cupcakes too. Here is the link for the cake that I made using this frosting MICHELLE'S FAVORITE CHOCOLATE MAYONNAISE CAKE
