Ingredients
- - 2/3 cup butter
- - 1/4 cup white sugar
- - 1 cup flour, all purpose
- - 1/4 cup cornflour
- - 1/2 cup butter
- - 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- - 2 tbsp corn syrup, light
- - 1/2 cup condensed milk, sweetened
- - 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
- - pinch of salt
- - 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips, dairy milk
How To Make caramel squares

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 2To a large bowl add 2/3 cup butter, white sugar and both flours, mixing evenly until it is crumbly.

Step 3Press into a square 8" - 9" pan and bake for 20 - 25 minutes.

Step 4In a large pot, add 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt; bring to a boil and keep boiling hard for 5 minutes.

Step 5Remove the pot from the heat and using a wooden spoon beat vigorously for 3 - 5 minutes, then pour over the baked crust and allow to cool completely. ( the caramel will firm up)

Step 6Melt the chocolate and stir until nice and smooth, then pour over the caramel layer, spreading to evenly cover the squares. Chill and cut into small squares.
