Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup 2% milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, divided
  • 14 ounces caramels
  • 14 ounces can sweetened condensed milk

How To Make caramel center brownies with walnuts

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl beat sugar, cocoa, oil, eggs and milk.
  • Step 2
    Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add to egg mixture until well blended.
  • Step 3
    Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts, reserving 1/2 cup for center of brownies.
  • Step 4
    Spoon 2/3 of batter into a 9x13 pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Meanwhile put unwrapped caramels in a large glass bowl with the sweetened condensed milk. Zap for 3 minutes occasionally stirring until caramels are melted.
  • Step 6
    Pour Carmel layer over baked brownie layer.
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle walnuts over all.
  • Step 8
    Drop remaining batter by teaspoons over the Carmel layer, smooth the chocolate, and then carefully swirl with a knife.
  • Step 9
    Bake 35-40 minutes longer or until a toothpick inserted in the center does out with moist crumbs, do not over bake.
  • Step 10
    Cool on a wire rack.
