Ingredients
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- 3-4 tablespoons cream or milk
- 1.3 cups cocoa powder unsweetened ( optional for chocolate icing )
How To Make american butter cream icing

Step 1Let butter soften to room temp but not TO soft

Step 2add butter to Crisco in bowl. And cream together on low speed

Step 3Once well mixed. Add sifted powder sugar a cup at a time on low speed.

Step 4Add vanilla mix on low speed and then Slowly add 1 tbsp of milk or cream at a time on med speed ..at 3 tbsp stop... and whip on high for a couple minutes until smooth If it is to thick at whipping stage slowly drizzle last table spoon of milk until it has loosened up a little.

Step 5If adding cocoa powder add before final whipping on slow speed once Incorporated kick back on to high speed and finish whipping. Do not over whip so as not to cause separation of butter.
