Something different than your Apple Crisp, but still delicious!

This is a recipe I adapted from a Curtis Stone recipe when he had to show "Take Home Chef"

Ingredients

FRUIT FILLING

1/3 c
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
5
ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
3/4 tsp
cinnamon

CRISP TOPPING

3/4 c
flour
1/2 c
sugar
1/2 c
old fashioned or quick cooking oats
1 stick
butter, cut into pieces
3/4 c
sliced almonds, coarsely chopped
pinch of salt

How to Make Cinnamon, Vanilla & Pear Crisp

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2Put sugar and cinnamon in an 8 inch square baking dish, mix to distribute the cinnamon evenly. Add in the pears and toss to coat. Sprinkle vanilla extract over pears and mix.
  • 3In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, oats and salt to blend. Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture until moist crumbs form. Mix in the almonds.
  • 4Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the pear mixture. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the fruit is tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • 5Let set for 10 minutes to cool slightly. Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
