This is one of those depression recipes -that has been carried over from year to year and new fruits added along the way. It really started out with apple slices ,apple juice and seeded grapes.

  • 1 c
    white sugar (granulated sugar)
  • 1/2 c
    oleo, (margarine or butter)
  • 4 large
  • 5 slice
    white bread, cubed (homemade) use a thick bread -country style
  • 11 oz
    can mandarin oranges,drained
  • 8 oz
    can crushed pineapple and juice
  • ·
    dream whip (cool whip)

How to Make Bread and Fruit Casserole


  1. Cream, oleo and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Stir in oranges and pineapple with juice. Fold in bread cubes. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake at 350^ for 50 to 60 minutes.. Serve warm with Dream Whip.
