Ingredients
- 3 cups blackberries
- 1-1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3/4 cup sugar
- DUMPLINGS:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup milk
How To Make blackberry slump
-
Step 1In a large saucepan with a lid, combine blackberries, water, lemon zest, lemon juice and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
-
Step 2Meanwhile, blend flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Using your hands or a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk and mix until ingredients are just moistened. Do not overmix.
-
Step 3Drop 6 equal spoonfuls of dough into simmering berry sauce. Cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until dumplings are done. DO NOT lift the lid.
-
Step 4Spoon dumplings and sauce into serving bowls and serve hot.
