Warm apple dishes are some of the best comfort food out there, and I think this one qualifies. Can't go wrong with these ingredients.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 25 Min
method Bake
yield 4-6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • FILLING:
  • 4 large apples, granny smith
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • TOPPING
  • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

How To Make apple crumble

  • Step 1
FOR THE FILLING: Peel, core, and slice the apples. Layer the apple slices in a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the apple slices.
  • Step 2
FOR THE TOPPING: In a large bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, granulated sugar and butter (not melted). Mix well. Sprinkle the topping mixture over the apple mixture.
  • Step 3
Bake in a preheated 425-degree oven for 20-25 minutes, until the apples have softened and the crumble topping is lightly golden.
  • Step 4
Serve warm--with vanilla ice cream, or whipped topping, if desired.
