Both of my grandmother's made the most awesome chess pie! This brings back so many nostalgic memories. I made the "quick and perfect" pie crust to go with this pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 heaping tablespoons flour
  • 1 heaping tablespoon corn meal
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

How To Make my grandmothers' chess pie

  • Step 1
    Combine sugar, flour, meal, and mix. Add melted butter and mix. Add eggs, then buttermilk and vanilla. Mix well and pour into unbacked pie shell. Bake at 325 for about an hour or until set. You may also add 1 c. coconut or 1 c. drained crushed pineapple for variation.
