Ingredients
- FILLING:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 cups peeled, sliced fresh peaches (about 6)
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- BATTER:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 dash salt
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup light cream or half-and-half
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- TOPPING
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted and cooled
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
How To Make gram's famous peach cobbler

Step 1For filling: combine sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in a large saucepan. Stir in peaches and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Pour into a 2-quart greased baking dish.

Step 2For batter: combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in light cream and vanilla just until moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto filling.

Step 3For topping: brush batter with butter. Sprinkle sugar on top. Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 400 degree oven, for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve with ice cream, if desired.
