I was in a Bunco club, and we went to each other's homes. This recipe comes from that. It is an easy-to-fix dessert.

Everyone is going to fall in love with these cookie bars. The base is a chewy chocolate chip cookie. Next, a rich peanut butter, brown sugar, and cream cheese layer is spread on top. The entire thing is coated in a thin layer of melted chocolate. This is an easy dessert that's easy to transport.

Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate chip cookie dough (16.5 oz)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar; lightly packed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening

If you want a thicker cookie, we suggest using a 30 oz package of chocolate chip cookie dough. If they are going to be eaten quickly, they are good at room temperature. We suggest storing leftovers in the fridge.
  • Press cookie dough into a 9x13 baking dish.
    Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Press chocolate chip cookie dough into a greased 9x13 dish.
  • Bake for 15 minutes and cool.
    Step 2
    Bake for 15 minutes. Let cool.
  • Mix peanut butter, brown sugar, and softened cream cheese.
    Step 3
    Mix peanut butter and brown sugar with softened cream cheese.
  • Spread onto the cooked cookie.
    Step 4
    Spread on the cooled chocolate chip cookie base.
  • Melt the chocolate chips and shortening in the microwave.
    Step 5
    Mix chocolate chips and shortening in a small bowl. Melt in microwave approximately 1 - 1 1/2 minutes.
  • Drizzle over the peanut butter layer and spread the chocolate.
    Step 6
    Drizzle melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer. Spread chocolate.
  • Once hardened, cut into squares.
    Step 7
    Once the chocolate is cooled and hardened, cut into slices and serve.
