I have been making these cookies every Christmas for as long as I can remember. My children loved them and now their children love them too. The oatmeal gives them some extra fiber.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 c
    crushed peppermint candies
  • GLAZE:

  • 1 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    milk
  • 3 Tbsp
    crushed peppermint candies

How to Make Old Fashioned Peppermint Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix all the cookie ingredients in a large bowl. Batter will be thick. Drop by teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  2. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. After cookies have cooled, mix glaze ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Drizzle over cookies and enjoy!
