"Fake " Butter Crunch

Ingredients

2 cfinely crished vanilla wafers

1/2 cfirmly packed light brown sugar

1/3 cbutter, melted
-
TOFFEE
-
1/2 cbutter
-
1/2 cfirmly packed light brown sugar
-
TOPPING
-
6 ozsemi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1/2 cchopped nuts (i use almonds)
How to Make "Fake " Butter Crunch
- Combine wafer crumbs, brown sugar and melted butter thoroughly. Then press into the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2 pan to make the base
- Bake the base at 350*F for 8 minutes
- While the base is cooking, make the toffee. Combine the butter and sugar in a small sauce pan and heat over medium or medium high heat until it boils. About 1 to 2 min
- Pour over the baked base and retuen to the oven for another 10 min. at 350*F
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with choclate chips. When they begin to melt take a spatula and smooth out the chocolate layer
- Sprinkle with nuts and cool. When cool break into bite size pieces.
