"fake " butter crunch
This chocolate toffee candy was always my favorite growing up as a child and Fanny Farmer made the best. When I married my husband his mother gave me this recipe. I have no idea where it came from but it has been a family favorite for over 40 years.

Ingredients
- 2 cups finely crished vanilla wafers
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- TOFFEE
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- TOPPING
- 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (i use almonds)
How To Make "fake " butter crunch

Step 1Combine wafer crumbs, brown sugar and melted butter thoroughly. Then press into the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2 pan to make the base

Step 2Bake the base at 350*F for 8 minutes

Step 3While the base is cooking, make the toffee. Combine the butter and sugar in a small sauce pan and heat over medium or medium high heat until it boils. About 1 to 2 min

Step 4Pour over the baked base and retuen to the oven for another 10 min. at 350*F

Step 5Remove from oven and sprinkle with choclate chips. When they begin to melt take a spatula and smooth out the chocolate layer

Step 6Sprinkle with nuts and cool. When cool break into bite size pieces.
