Very old heirloom recipe of mom's. I found it when we were cleaning out her stuff. It is from my childhood days. Really good but no baking chips!

  • 1/2 c
    , melted
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp
    double acting baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1-11/2 c
    nuts ( pecans peanuts walnuts .... ) your choice finely chopped

How to Make Butterscotch brownies


  1. Preheat oven to 350oo Melt butter (mama used sauce pan, I microwave). Stir into sugar til melted together . Set aside and COOL these mixture.
  2. Beat in egg well
  3. Add vanilla .
  4. Sift flour with baking powder, & salt this is your 2nd sift!! Stir into butter mixture that's cool.
  5. Add nuts. Roll nuts in a bit of flour if you want.
  6. Pour batter inroads greased 9x9 square pan.
  7. Bake 20-25 mins @ 350oo
  8. Cool completely . Cut into 16 THIN 21/2 in squares
