Very old heirloom recipe of mom's. I found it when we were cleaning out her stuff. It is from my childhood days. Really good but no baking chips!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup , melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon double acting baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-11/2 cup nuts ( pecans peanuts walnuts .... ) your choice finely chopped

How To Make butterscotch brownies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350oo Melt butter (mama used sauce pan, I microwave). Stir into sugar til melted together . Set aside and COOL these mixture.
  • Step 2
    Beat in egg well
  • Step 3
    Add vanilla .
  • Step 4
    Sift flour with baking powder, & salt this is your 2nd sift!! Stir into butter mixture that's cool.
  • Step 5
    Add nuts. Roll nuts in a bit of flour if you want.
  • Step 6
    Pour batter inroads greased 9x9 square pan.
  • Step 7
    Bake 20-25 mins @ 350oo
  • Step 8
    Cool completely . Cut into 16 THIN 21/2 in squares
