This is one of my grandmother's recipes from the 1940s.

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1 - egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup coconut
1 teaspoon almond flavoring

How To Make angel cookies

Step 1

Mix all ingredients together. Roll spoonful of cookie dough into small balls. Dip top into water and then into sugar. Place balls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees till slightly browned. About 15 minutes. Chilled dough handles easier.
