Ingredients
- FOR THE SYRUP
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- FOR THE CAKE
- 2 cups semolina
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup syrup
- 1 cup heavy cream, warmed
How To Make semolina cake (bassboossa)

Step 1For the syrup: in a saucepan dissolve the sugar in the water over medium heat then add the lemon juice. Bring to boil then let it boil softly for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 2Preheat oven to 350 degrees, position rack in center of oven. Spray a 9 inch pan with cooking spray. In a bowl, mix semolina and sugar together. Melt the butter and add it to the mixture and mix well till all semolina is moistened.

Step 3Add 1/4 cup cooled syrup, and the cream. Using a spoon, mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Spread batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with the back of a spoon or moistened hand. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 - 50 minutes or till the top is dark golden brown and the edges are browned.

Step 4Take out of the oven and immediately pour the cool syrup all over. Cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve with a dollop of cream (optional).
