Ingredients

  • 1 - egg
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 package cream cheese, 8 ounces
  • 2 - eggs, first egg is for bottom layer

How To Make katherine's gooey butter cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Melt butter. Mix butter, one egg, cake mix and nuts. I use walnuts or pecans. This will be the consistency of pastry. Press into a 9x13 inch greased pan.
  • Step 3
    Mix powdered sugar, two eggs and cream cheese. Pour over bottom layer and bake until lightly golden brown. Do not over bake. Will be slightly loose while hot. Bake 35-40 minutes.
