Originally a contest winner, This recipe has been in our family for more than four generations. While various versions, and alternating ingredients, have been ventured, this is the original, and the best, for a moist, delicious, rich coffeecake! The glaze ( a later generation addition) is not needed, and I do not use one. The cake stands alone, whether for dessert, or with breakfast, or just with a cup of coffee. It has been a hit with everyone over the generations with whom we have shared it, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes until done. To cool, remove cake with the tube and bottom of the pan still attached and place on wire rack. After a few minutes, remove cake from tube bottom and finish cooling on rack. ( reinsert cake in pan then invert onto cooling rack, or place onto serving plate. Also, remove wax paper at this time if it was used.)
