Ingredients
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 large egg yolks, reserve whites
- 1/2 cup butter (or margarine)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups coconut
- 1 cup pecans, in pieces (more to taste)
How To Make boiled icing, for german chocolate cake

Step 1Mix together first 5 ingredients in pan on stovetop over medium heat until thick. Stirring constantly, careful not to scorch

Step 2Remove from heat and beat by hand until thick and looses some of the gloss. Add coconut and pecans

Step 3Pour almost 1/2 over first layer of cooled German Chocolate Cake. Then put next layer on and pour remaining frosting and let drip down the sides.
