I make this cake with my recipe for homemade applesauce. I have the link to the recipe n the instructions below. You can use jarred applesauce as well. This cake is moist and has a great mix of spices in it. I also use organic coconut palm sugar for the brown sugar, but regular light brown sugar will work fine too. We eat it without any frosting but you could add a glaze or top it with confectioners sugar.Sometimes we drizzle a little pure maple syrup over it! I hope you try this cake and enjoy it as much as our family does!

How to Make Applesauce Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a bundt pan with cooking spray, I also add a layer of Baker's Joy spray to keep the cake from sticking. Just make sure the pan is coated well.
  • 2In a large bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Mix in coconut palm sugar (or brown sugar). Stir ingredients to blend them well.
  • 3In a medium bowl lightly beat eggs and add other wet ingredients. Blend well.
  • 4Combine wet and dry ingredients into large bowl. Mix just until combined, do not over mix.
  • 5Put batter into prepared bundt pan and smooth to even out batter. Bake in the center of the oven for 40-45 minutes. Ovens vary so test at 40 minutes to see if toothpick comes out clean, add 5 minute intervals as needed.
  • 6Cool cake for 10 minutes before turning it onto a plate for serving.
  • 7NOTE: Here is the link for my homemade applesauce that I use in this recipe.
