This is a simple and delicious tea cake recipe that I have used for many years. My family loves these little tea cakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground (may add a little more)

How To Make verna's tea cakes

  • Step 1
    Cream the butter and sugar. Add the flour a little at a time. Add the eggs that are slightly beaten. Mix in flavoring. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
  • Step 2
    For Christmas, you may want to put a red or green candied cherry in the center before cooking and after cooking and cooling, you could dust with powdered sugar.
