A soft chocolaty cookie that melts in your mouth! My kids loved these when they were growing up- and they still do!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 - chocolate, unsweetened squares
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 18 large fresh marshmallows, cut in 1/2

How To Make top hat dandies

  • Step 1
    Cream the first 2 ingredients;blend in egg. Beat well. Combine flour,soda and salt. Stir in half the dry ingredients. Add cherry juice and milk, stir in remaining dry ingredients. Mix well. Blend in melted chocolate,nuts and cherries. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350^ oven for 12-14 minutes, until cookies spring back when gently touched. Place marshmallow 1/2 cut side down on hot, baked cookies. Cool on wire rack or paper bag. Cool;frost with chocolate fudge frosting and top with nut half. --- Fudge frosting: 1/2 c. margarine 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar 4 Tablespoons baking cocoa 6 Tablespoons milk Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and boil for 1 minute. Cool slightly. Spread on cookies . Top with nut. Let set.
