Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • YOU MAY EITHER USE 1 TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT OR 1/2 TEASPOON LEMON EXTRACT

How To Make sugar cookies

  • Step 1
    Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover; chill at least 1 hour.
  • Step 2
    Heat oven to 400 degrees. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly flowered board. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6-8 minutes or until very light brown.
  • Step 3
    For an iced frosting: Mix 2 Cups Confectioner's sugar and 1 Tablespoon water. Add more water, 1 teaspoon at a time until icing is of the consistency desired. Add food coloring and or vanilla or lemon flavoring as desired. Add to taste and colored desired. Either dip cooled cookie into the icing or spoon or paint on. Let it sit until icing hardens. Enjoy!
