Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, cold
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • pinch dash salt

How To Make shortbread

  • Step 1
    Mix butter with sugar. Add flour, pinch of salt and mix well.
  • Step 2
    Roll about 1/2 inch thick on floured board and shape with juice glass (OR) biscuit cutter.
  • Step 3
    Bake on lightly greased and floured pan at 350°F for about 20 minutes. Note: As with any recipe and baking, ovens and altitudes vary widely. Check your oven after about 15 mins, to know if 20 mins will be needed for perfect yummy's.
  • Step 4
    NOTE: This is a basic shortning bread recipe. You can add allspice, cinnamon, almond flavor, etc. Also very good with ground or finely chopped pecans, almonds and my favorite Ozark Mountain Black Walnuts. Leave recipe as it (OR) make it your own with additions of spice, nutmeats, candies (crushed peppermint sticks, m & m's, whatever you like, the only limit is your imagination! ENJOY! You can also use as a cookie bar or pie crust base for other yummies with fruit..
