My mom made these when I was little, and they are still a favorite. A Southern taste in a cookie that just reminds me of home.

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 c
    sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    unbeaten egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • BROWN SUGAR GLAZE

  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    vanilla

How to Make Praline Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cream butter. Add brouwn sugar to butter, gradually, creaming well.
  2. Blend in egg, vanilla, and dry ingredients; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Add Brown Sugar Glaze over cooled cookies if desired. Mix all ingredients of glaze together and mix well. Add more confectioner's sugar or water to make just pourable. Add a pecan half if desired.
