  • 1 1/2 stick
    (3/4 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c
    plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp
    finely grated orange peel
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    cornstarch

How to Make Orange Shortbread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9" square baking pan.
  2. Beat butter and the 1/2 cup sugar with electric mixer until creamy. Beat in orange peel. Stir in flour and and cornstarch until blended.
  3. Spread mixture in prepared pan. Chill 30 minutes.
  4. With a sharp knife, score dough in 1 1/2x3 inch bars. Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of sugar.
    Bake 50 minutes or until golden. Cut through scored lines.
