molasses nutty bars
My grandma and I used to make these cookies when I would go to stay at her house in the city for a week in the summer. They were so good, especially when we would make them together. I got to grease the pan, grate the orange, chop the nuts and break the eggs in the bowl.

Ingredients
- CRUST;
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3 teaspoons grated orange rind
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- FILLING:
- 3 - eggs
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar,packed
- 1/2 cup light molasses
- 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds or chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1Crust: In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients and cut in butter with pastry blender until crumbly. Spread crumbs evenly in a greased 9 x 13- inch baking pan- pressing in firmly. Bake in 350^ oven for 10 minutes.

Step 2Filling: In medium bowl, beat eggs until foamy. Add flour, sugar and molasses. Beat only until mixture is smooth and well blended. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Pour over crust. Bake 20 minutes or until top is firm to the touch.
