gum drop bars christmas delights
This recipe was always so easy to make when I didn't want to take the time to make the sliced cookies. They were a great hit for the kids lunch bags and after school snack with a glass of cold milk. Hope you like them.

makes 2 dozen small cookies or as many as the size you want to cut.
Ingredients
- BARS:
- 4 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons orange juice or other juice or water
- 2 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt- just a pinch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
- 1 cup gum drops, cut in small pieces, no black (but i use them)
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- ORANGE BUTTER ICING:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened to room temperature
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated orange peel-from 1 orange
- 2 tablespoons orange juice

Step 1Preheat oven to 350^. Grease or spray a 9x13-inch cake pan. Set aside. Bars: Beat eggs with the juice until light; add sugar and mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Stir in lightly floured gum drop pieces.( to help keep them separated). Stir in nuts; pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes. While warm spread with Icing. Cool and cut into desired size or into 24 squares.

Step 2Orange Butter Icing: Throughly cream butter and sugar. Stir in orange zest from 1 orange. Add orange juice as frosting becomes thick to your liking.
