My daughter loves this tasty treat with a cup of her favorite Irish Breakfast tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour,unbleached
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 tablespoons butter or vegetable shortering,melted
  • 1/2 cup reduced fat buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips

How To Make irish scones

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 400 degrees.Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl lightly beat eggs,mix in melted butter and buttermilk.Add liquids to dry ingredients,mix to combine.Mix in raisins or chocolate chips.
  • Step 3
    Divide dough into thirds.On a floured board pat each piece into a 1 inch thick circle.
  • Step 4
    Cut each circle into quarters. Transfer wedges to baking sheet.Bake until golden,15 minutes.Serve warm.
