This was one of my Aunt Martha's signature cookie bars she made at Easter and Christmas!
She said she was making this for many years, I first tasted them when I was about 9 or 10, so that would be around 1949-50.These are so good.
Sometimes I add peanut butter to the filling too about 1/4 cup.YUM!

How to Make Frosted Coconut Nutty Graham Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Cover bottom of 9x13-inch baking pan with a layer of whole graham crackers(you might have to break some to fit to cover the bottom of the pan), set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan cook and stir butter, sugar and milk until it comes to a boil.
Cool to lukewarm and add a little to the beaten egg, then combine with the butter mixture, along with the coconut, walnuts and cracker crumbs.
    Mix to combine all.
  3. Spread mixture evenly over crackers in the prepared pan.
Now put another layer of crackers on top- just like you did on the bottom.
Frost then refrigerate 24 hours before cutting into small pieces.
    ---
    Frosting:
Combine all ingredients and add just enough milk to get a good spreading consistency that is not runny.
    'These freeze well. Cut small
