The cakey, yet chewy texture of these cookies were a favorite of my niece when she was growing up.

Ingredients

2 cups - all-purpose flour
1 tsp - baking powder
1/2 tsp - baking soda
1/2 tsp - salt
1 cup - butter-flavored crisco
1 Cup - light brown sugar, packed
1 - egg
1 tsp - vanilla
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts

How To Make favorite chocolate chip cookies

Step 1

Sift together dry ingredients; set aside.

Step 2

Cream together the Crisco, brown sugar, egg and vanilla.
Step 3

Add dry ingredients into creamed mixture in 2 portions.
Step 4

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Step 5

Bake at 350° 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
