The original recipe came out of a magagine I believe, and my dad just loved these.
Him and my oldest grandson could devour the whole batch.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c
    graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa
  • 1/3 c
    margarine, melted
  • 14 oz
    can sweetened condensed milk
  • 7 oz
    package sweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 c
    fresh bread crumbs( about 4 slices of bread)
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    mini chips semi sweet chocolate

How to Make Dad's Chocolate Macaroon Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and spray a 9x13 pan with non stick spray.
  2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, cocoa and margarine. Press firmly on bottom of prepared pan.
  3. Bake 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Spoon evenly over prepared crust.
  6. Bake 30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool.
  7. Cut into bars and store covered in refrigerator.
