- CREAM CHEESE DOUGH

3 ozpackage cream cheese,cubed

1/3 cmargarine,softened

1 call purpose flour
-
1/8 tspsalt
- FILLING

1/4 cgranulated sugar
-
2 tspground cinnamon
-
1/2 cbittersweet chocolate chunks or chips

2 Tbspmelted butter
-
note: other filling may be used- like jam,peanut butter,pudding, pie filling,etc.
How To Make cream cheese chocolate rugelach

1Preheat oven to 350^. Cover baking sheet or sheets with parchment paper;set aside. Dough: Combine softened cream cheese and margarine, mixing well until well blended. Add flour and salt; mix well. Form into a ball;chill thoroughly;about 20 minutes. On lightly floured surface,roll out dough to 12 inch circle.

2brush dough with the melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture, saving a bit of each to brush tops of finished pastry.

3Sprinkle on the chocolate pieces or other filling,press slightly into dough.Cut into 8 or 9 wedges. Roll each wedge up like a crescent roll;starting with the wide end. Repeat with remaining pieces.

4Place pastries onto prepared baking sheet. and chill for 30 minutes before baking.(or if you want them for a later date freeze them). Brush tops with remaining butter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon/sugar. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until just golden brown.
