blueberry bars
This is also from a vintage Amish cook book Sent in my Mary Miller. Try the optional cream cheese in it for a wonderful breakfast on the run or a coffee club delight. PS you can switch up the blueberries for any berries you choose

8 x8 pan - 9 bars
Ingredients
- COOKIES
- 1 cup quick oats
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup crisco
- CENTER
- 2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
- OPTIONAL
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
How To Make blueberry bars
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees Mix everything except blueberries together and press 1/2 of the mix into a greased 8x8 baking dish.
-
Step 2Cover with blueberries and cover with remaining mix. So you have a sandwich effect. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until done.
-
Step 3With additional option: 1 (8 oz) cream cheese (softened) I like adding this in small chunks when I add the blueberries, making it a wonderful quick morning breakfast with coffee and juice
