Strawberry Cream Cheese Cake

This recipe is a family favorite; I make it every holiday! Sometimes I am asked to make two - my older sister loves this cake; therefore, I have to make her one just so she can take it home. My daughter-in-law loves this cake just as much also. So, around the holidays, this is a MUST!

1 box
yellow cake mix
8 oz
cream cheese, softened
1 stick
butter, softened
1 c
granulated sugar
1 c
powdered sugar
9 oz
cool whip
21 oz
strawberry pie filling


1Cake -
Cook the cake mix according to directions on box, making 2 layers. Cool completely. Slice each layer (2 layers) in half, making 4 layers.
2Frosting -
With mixer, beat together cream cheese, butter, sugar, powdered sugar, and cool whip.
3Put first layer of cake on the plate. Spread the frosting (from previous step) and pour 1/3 of the strawberry pie filling onto the bottom layer. Repeat next two layers. Then, frost the rest of the cake on sides and top. Refrigerate several hours.
4Keep refrigerated!
