Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 16 ounces package powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make peanut butter and fudge cake

  • Step 1
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan; stir well. Cook over mediu-low heat, stirring constantly, until the butter melts. Gradually stir about 1/4 of the hot mixture into the eggs; add to the remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Transfer the buttermilk mixture to a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 2
Combine flour, baking soda, and sugar; add to the buttermilk mixture, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Step 3
Pour the batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  • Step 4
Combine the peanut butter and oil; stir well. Spread the peanut butter mixture over the top of the cake.
  • Step 5
Combine 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons buttermilk, and 1/4 cup cocoa in a medium saucepan; stir well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the butter melts and the mixture is bubbly. Remove from the heat. Combine warm cocoa mixture and the powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread the cocoa mixture over the peanut butter mixture.
