This is a very moist chocolate cake I made for my daughter's birthday.Everybody loved it.It was gone right away I barely had time to take a picture. The wine in this recipe is the secret ingredient. It gives a unique flavor and no one could guess what it was.

  • 1 3/4 c
    unbleached white flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3/4 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    canola oil
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 c
    red sweet wine ( like lambrusco)
  • 2 large
    eggs

How to Make Moist Chocolate Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix together flour, cocoa, soda, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, buttermilk and wine until combined.(do not over mix).
  3. Add dry ingredients to wine mixture. Pour dough to 10 inch spring form pan.
    Bake 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the cake.
  4. Make frosting. I used a frosting from a recipe I have previously posted called, "Best chocolate cake ever".
