This is a very moist chocolate cake I made for my daughter's birthday.Everybody loved it.It was gone right away I barely had time to take a picture. The wine in this recipe is the secret ingredient. It gives a unique flavor and no one could guess what it was.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups unbleached white flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup red sweet wine ( like lambrusco)
  • 2 large eggs

How To Make moist chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    Mix together flour, cocoa, soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl, mix sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, buttermilk and wine until combined.(do not over mix).
  • Step 3
    Add dry ingredients to wine mixture. Pour dough to 10 inch spring form pan. Bake 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the cake.
  • Step 4
    Make frosting. I used a frosting from a recipe I have previously posted called, "Best chocolate cake ever".
