Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1/2 c
    hot water
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    eggs
  • 3 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1
    9-inch unbaked pie crust

How to Make Mennonite Funny Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cocoa, hot water and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. In another mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup sugar, egg and oil, then add remaining ingredients.
  4. Pour creamed mixture into the pie crust and then pour chocolate mixture on top.
  5. Bake for approximately 45 minutes. Test with a wooden pick for doneness.
