apple walnut cake
I love this recipe- the topping always gets me. This was our Friday night dessert, especially when we knew our neighbors were stopping over with homemade ice cream. MMmmmm.

Ingredients
- CAKE:
- 20 ounces can apple pie filling
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs,beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts nuts
- 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
- TOPPINGS:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts nuts
How To Make apple walnut cake

Step 1Cake: Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan, spread pie filling in bottom. Combine flour, sugar, soda, and salt, and spices. Sprinkle over pie filling. Beat eggs and vanilla, add oil and nuts and mix well. Pour over ingredients in pan , stir and spread evenly. Bake at 350^ for 40-50 minutes.

Step 2Topping: Combine all ingredients except nuts and cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Pick top of cake with a fork. Pour icing over top of cake and sprinkle with the nuts.
