An old family favorite. Also called St. Louis Cake or St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake. My mom made this exact recipe when I was a kid.

Ingredients
- 16 1/2 ounces box yellow cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
- TOPPING:
- 2 large eggs
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar or 16 oz box (reserve 2 t.)
How To Make gooey butter cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. LIGHTLY spray a 13x9 glass baking dish with nonstick. Set aside.

Step 2In a bowl, blend together the dry cake mix, eggs, and melted butter. Pour into prepared dish. Set aside.

Step 3In a separate bowl, combine powdered sugar, eggs, and cream cheese until smooth. Pour over cake mix in baking dish. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 4Allow to cool. Sprinkle with reserved powdered sugar.
