classic butter cream frosting

This is the best frosting in the world! Another one of those recipes my mother used over and over again.

Ingredients

  • CLASSIC BUTTER CREAM
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 lb (4 c. - confectioners' sugar
  • CHOCOLATE BUTTER CREAM
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons more of butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon more of salt
  • FOR CHOCOLATE FROSTING USE VANILLA EXTRACT

How To Make classic butter cream frosting

  • Step 1
    Mix all ingredients EXCEPT 2 cups of the confectioners' sugar, blend well.
  • Step 2
    Gradually add remaining sugar while mixing.
  • Step 3
    Beat at high speed for 10 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Cover while not in use. Do not refrigerate.
