Cheery Cherry Dessert Squares

Rose Mary Mogan

A version of this recipe is in my cookbook "SHARING OUR FAVORITE RECIPES".

But I have added a few additional ingredients,& I love the new results.

This dessert is quick & easy, & very tasty, & with the addition of Nuts, & the Chocolate Chips, it is so full of the cherry flavor with the addition of a large box of Jello Gelatin.

I even added a glaze so it is quite cheery & so full of the cherry pie filling flavor, you can't go wrong on such a simple & easy dessert. Try it and see if you don't agree.

The Original Recipe was submitted by my friend Beverly Alitz of McCallsburg, Iowa.

  3. Measure out flour salt, & baking powder, & stir together& set aside till needed.
  4. Add jello to creamed mixture.
  5. Beat till blended together.
  6. Pour in almond & vanilla bean paste.
  7. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  8. Add flour in 3 intervals, beating well after each addition.

  13. Bake in preheated 350 degrees F. oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until done.
  15. Prepare glaze by blending glaze ingredients in a small bowl, and add enough liquid till glaze reaches the spreading consistency you desire.

  17. Cut into squares & serve. Now you may use other flavors of pie fillings if desired.
