How To Make bonnie’s good morning crock pot apple oats cereal
-
Step 1EQUIPMENT: You will need two pint size Mason or Ball jars with lids and rings. We keep the rings OFF while cooking. We don't want to turn your crock pot into a pressure cooker! :) We use the lids to keep extra moisture out of the jar. Put the rings on afterwards to store leftover cereal in the fridge.
-
Step 2Use a small crock pot that will hold one or two Mason jars. The lid may not fit, but that is okay, because we are going to invert a stainless steel bowl over the crock pot, one that will fit inside the rim. NOTE: Why do I use jars? I guess it is because I don't like the mess in my crock pot and it can sometimes burn. It never burns in the jars, just cooks perfectly. Liners are messy, too. Be sure to use mitts to remove the hot jars and the inverted bowl!
-
Step 31. Add the dry oats, and the rest of the ingredients, except the water, to the Mason jar. Mix well.
-
Step 4Now add half of the cup of water and stir. Add the diced apple and raisins. Add the rest of the water or enough so it is up to the rim of the jar.
-
Step 52. Lay the lid on the jar loosely (don't use the ring!) and place the jar or jars in the crock pot.
-
Step 63. Fill your crock pot ¾ full of water. Place the inverted bowl inside the rim.
-
Step 74. Set the crock pot to low. Let it cook overnight for 8 hours.
-
Step 85. Your Apple Oats will be cooked perfectly when you get up in the morning. Give it a stir. Add the butter first, and then the cream or milk, and then sprinkle on the pecans. Enjoy!
-
Step 96. Don't forget to make some great variations of your own! Enjoy!
