whole grain french toast

I love the nutty crunchy texture of whole grain bread. When ever there is a reasonable amount left, I opt to slice it down and make French Toast with it. I usually use my electric Knife to slice it to make the task much easier. This is no really special recipe, it is just the way I like to prepare mine, you can use what ever type bread that you like or have on hand. The amount of the ingredients you need will depend on the number of people you are serving , or how hungry they are.Smile. I usually have 2 slices, but my husbands prefers a lot more, so use your own judgement. This is just a guide

Ingredients

  • 6-8 slices whole grain bread (sliced thick)
  • 4-5 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup whole or 2/% milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2-3 tablespoons sugar
  • - butter or non stick cooking spray

How To Make whole grain french toast

  • Step 1
    Crack eggs into a 8X8 size glass dish, add salt, cinnamon, sugar, milk & Vanilla whisk till completely blended. Coat both sides of bread with egg mixture.
  • Step 2
    Melt a pat of butter into skillet or on griddle, till pan or griddle is hot or use non stick cooking spray. Carefully lay bread slices onto griddle using a spatula, and allow to brown for about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove and place on serving plate, and top with your favorite syrup or dust with powdered sugar. Add more butter if desired. Serve while still warm.
