tomatoes on toast

This is a great Germantown recipe great for breakfast or brunch too!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons butter or margarine
  • 3 cups scalded milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 teaspoons minute tapioca

How To Make tomatoes on toast

  • Step 1
    Cook tomatoes, butter , salt, pepper and tapioca in a saucepan stirring constantly ,until tapioca is transparent. Heat milk to just scalding point, add tomato mixture slowly to prevent curdling and bring slowly to boiling point- BUT DO NOT boil. Serve over butter garlic toast or savory bread.
  • Step 2
    I personally like to eat it in a bowl with seasoned buttered croûton's and crumbled bacon on top.
