Makes One Loaf
Ingredients
- 1 cup dates
- 1 medium orange
- 1/2 cup nuts
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water, boiling
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - egg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons shortening (butter)
How To Make orange-date bread "magic manna"

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 Put dates and orange rind through medium blade of grinder.

Step 2reserve orange juice and add boiling water to make one cup liquid. Pour over date and orange peel. Add shortening (butter) to date mixture.

Step 3In a large bowl, put sifted dry ingredients. Slowly add date mixture, vanilla and well beaten egg. Add nuts.

Step 4Bake in a well-greased loaf pan, 1 hour at 350.
