How To Make irish soda bread
-
Step 1Sift dry ingredients together, then put in the raisins. Then add the buttermilk. I make it by putting a couple of Tbls. of vinegar in a measuring cup and fill the rest with plain milk.
-
Step 2Lightly grease a large iron frying pan and pour the batter into the pan. Dot generously with pieces of butter.
-
Step 3Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Rub a little sweet milk on top before taking it out of the oven. After about 5 minutes take it out of the oven and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then turn it upside down to cool, after you turn it back side up, so it won't crack. Eat cold or warm and enjoy buttered or plain. Delicious. It makes you think you are in Ireland.
