banana nut bread

Basic recipe from my mom's old Betty Crocker cookbook. Still a family favortie though. :) Posting it for my Christmas gift basket shopping list.

yield 1 loaf OR 3 mini loaves

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3 - large bananas, mashed

How To Make banana nut bread

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 9x5x3 loaf pan. For 3 MINI LOAVES (3x5x2) heat to 325.
  • Step 2
    Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Thoroughly mix ingredients for about 30 seconds, scraping bowl frequently.
  • Step 3
    Pour into loaf pan/s, bake for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
  • Step 4
    Best served hot with butter. Freezes well.
