This vanilla bread becomes amaretto flavored with extra maraschino cherries and extra sugar on top with brandy butter glaze. This recipe will make 5 mini loaves or 2 (8x4-inch loaves)

Ingredients For amaretto cherry nut bread

  • BREAD :
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c
    real butter, softened
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/3 c
    amaretto liqueur or 1/3 c. milk and 1 teas. almond extract
  • 1 c
    chopped maraschino cherries, well drained
  • TOPPING:
  • 4 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    melted butter
  • 1/3 c
    sliced almonds
  • GLAZE: OPTIONAL
  • 3 Tbsp
    brandy
  • 1 Tbsp
    melted butter

How To Make amaretto cherry nut bread

    Preheat oven to 350^.grease bottoms only of 5(5x3-inch) mini loaf pans bake- 35-45 minutes or 2 (8x4-inch) loaf pans- bake 45-50 minutes.

    Bread: Combine sugar and butter in large bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add eggs; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add milk. Beat until well mixed. Add dry ingredients and continue beating just until flour is moistened- like for muffins.

    Gently stir in liqueur and cherries. Spoon batter evenly into prepared pans of your choice. --- Combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl; mix well. Sprinkle over batter. Bake in preheated oven according to times above or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans; remove to wire cooling rack. Brush with butter and brandy heated. Cool completely.
