Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 slices hearty white bread
  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 4 ounces butter,soft
  • FILLING:
  • 1 tablespoon fresh snipped chives
  • dash paprika
  • 1/4 cup crushed pineapple, very well drained
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, firmly packed

How To Make pineapple grilled cheese/ chive grilled cheese sandwiches

  • Step 1
    Prepare bread by spreading one side of 2 slices of each type of bread with butter. Use a fork to mix cheddar cheese and cream cheese;blend well. Divide mixture into 2 equal parts and place in small mixing bowl. --- Chive & Cheese: To one of the bowl add the chives and paprika. Spread a generous portion on the unbuttered white slice and spread evenly. Place buttered white slice on top of the filling. Place the sandwich buttered side down in a skillet, Butter top of the bread in the skillet. --- Pineapple & Cheese: To the second bowl add the pineapple and brown sugar, mixing well to blend. Spread a generous portion on the unbuttered side of wheat bread. Place buttered side of bread on top of filling, and place in skillet buttered side down. Butter top of bread. --- Brown both sandwiches in skillet until golden brown on bottom then gently flip over and brown other side. --- Any left over filling is great used as a dip for crackers or chips too.
